HJ Lea Oakes Ltd are suppliers of top-quality animal and livestock feeds, serving farmers across a wide area in Cheshire, Lancashire, Staffordshire, Shropshire, and North Wales. We are currently looking for an experienced, full-time Team Leader to join our team in delivering outstanding customer service. This vacancy is based in our manufacturing and packing site in Prees Heath near Whitchurch.

Job Description and Profile

It is a diverse and hands-on role that involves taking part in the day to day running of a busy Manufacturing and Packing Plant alongside the Plant Manager. You will be responsible for running a shift in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, including producing the feed, packing, and loading operations. Leading a team of plant operators, packers, and loaders, working alongside the team in ensuring the quality and safety of the products and timely operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Day to day running of a shift in the Plant
  • Stock control / Stock rotation / Managing storage areas
  • Quality checks / Inspections / Record keeping
  • Dealing with customer complaints / Continuous improvement
  • Plant and packing area work / Manual handling
  • Loading & unloading deliveries and despatching orders
  • Close cooperation with Transport dept. and the Bag Transport Coordinator
  • Site cleanliness / Housekeeping

Terms:

  • Full time position (basic 40 hours a week, as part of two shift system 6am-2pm/2pm-10pm between Monday and Friday, but might involve some weekend work in busy periods, overtime available).

Essential Requirements

Requirements:

  • Good organisational skills and ability to lead the team
  • Current Forklift truck licence is required
  • Packing and bag dispatch experience is preferable
  • Load all licence and prior experience in working in the animal feed manufacturing is desirable, but full training will be provided for the right candidate
  • Good communication skills, good command of spoken and written English
  • Good numeracy and literacy
  • Computer skills – the role involves working on industry specific software (Compac GOLD, Proteus) and automated machinery (packer, robot)
  • The successful candidate will be energetic, friendly, and hard working
  • Ability to lead and work well as part of a team, including cooperation with other departments (transport, customer services, technical)
